How do I pay my rates?

Council has made paying your rates more convenient by having the following options available to you -

Broken Hill City Council accepts the following methods of payments for Annual Land Rates.

  • BPay - Pay by phone or internet via your financial institution.
    When making your payment quote Biller Code 7732 and your Customer Reference Number (Rates assessment number).
  • Payment by Mail - Cheque or money order payable to Broken Hill City Council.  Please remember to attach your Payment Advice and post to:
                                                               Broken Hill City Council,
                                                               PO Box 448,
                                                               Broken Hill NSW 2880.
    Payment can be made by Mastercard or Visa  by completing the details on the payment advice and posting to the above address. Receipts will be issued upon request. (Council does not accept American Express)
  • Personal Payment - Present the rates notice intact to the cashier at Council's Administration Centre, 240 Blende Street, Broken Hill. We accept payment by Cash, Cheque, Credit Card and Eftpos. Cashier hours are 8:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday. 
  • Payment Via Australia Post present the rates notice intact at any Australia Post outlet to pay by cash, cheque or credit card. To use Australia Post Telephone Billpay call 13 18 16 to pay by debit or credit card. Payment using your credit card can also be done through the Australia Post website Click Here
  • Direct Debit - Council can arrange for direct debit from your bank accout to pay your rates.
  • Centrepay - This is a free direct bill paying service offered to customers receiving Centerlink payments.
